✩23 My Current Home Screen ✩

 Hey Buns!
Hope all is going well.

I'm sure everyone has seen this by now but iPhone had a recent update. One that Android users are already used to. We are now allowed to fully customize our phones using widgets and how the apps themselves look. I used to be an Android user until my hubby found a good deal for iPhones.

He was already using them before so it was no big issue for him. And since I also rather save money, I decided to make the switch. So I did miss a lot of the customization that Android allowed. But it's finally a thing for Apple owners!

Lots of Apple owners have been sharing their inspiration, tutorials and ideas online. Some of them are pretty cute!  I like to keep most of my apps in organized folders so I'm still trying to set it all up properly. So here is my first one!

I know not much to it. But it works for me. I hope there will be more apps in the future that will allow me to do more. A lot of the apps I see want you to pay for more app customizations... which I don't feel like paying for right now. So who knows!

Do you have a cool or cute layout for your phone? Let me know in the comments!

✩22 Let's Have a Serious Chat✩

 Hey All.

I know it's been a while since we chatted. But there's something that I feel the need to get off of my chest. It's been on my mind for a while but I finally got both the courage and the ability to say what I need to say.

I don't know how deeply involved people are in the Gal community or Gyaru itself. But with the boom of it gaining popularity again, it attracted a lot of newbies. A lot of them actually participating and becoming Baby Gals. A Baby Gal is not talking literally about age, it's more about getting into gal and learning the roots to become one. As one learns more, continuously strives to reach the next level, eventually they graduate from baby gal and move onto the next.

I'm super happy with more people becoming interested in Gyaru. I will gladly help out anyone that asks for it. Even if they are like many of us that started off with Himekaji, older gals should always look to help newbies find their niche.

But apparently, this is not always the case.
And it's not just from one side of the spectrum either.

I don't really participate in any of the groups like on Discord or on FB. I randomly pop into the latter to see new topics or photos that I don't see on Twitter or Insta. And I'm happy to see a ton of babbies. But...there are also a ton posting photos not related to gal. Which can be usually their first few posts of trying to figure out the proper way of doing style, hair or makeup. Though there are some that regardless of direction, continue to do as they please.

However.

This does not give the excuse or go ahead for a veteran gal to become a bully or a gatekeeper.

As an older gal, basically anyone beyond baby gal, one should look to guide and provide concrit with the goal to be helping the gal along and letting them know if what they're doing is the right way or not. We should never go online just to badmouth anyone. I can understand you're annoyed and frustrated with how things are going. And it can be tiring to keep having to repeat yourself that "cosplay/lolita/decora/etc. is not gal". But there are enough of us that don't have to depend on a mod to say something is off. It doesn't cost anything to say something nicely or to be patient with others.

We all started somewhere. And I guarantee a ton of older gals, including myself, found gal through Lolita and/or some other alternative fashion. Back then, we didn't have many resources for knowledge. We had "Gyaru Secrets" and bullies going out of their way to make nasty comments to gals who posted their looks online. Today we have lolcow and people going on their own SNS saying worse now.

On top of all that, there were a few incidents that divided even longtime gals.

Look, I get it. We're upset.

But it's not gonna' cost you anything to just be a decent human being. If you're tired of newbies "not even trying" then tell them. Don't go elsewhere and talk badly about them. If they refuse to post gal, then warn them and remove them from the groups. And newbies, if you need help, be sure to ask. Many of us will actually help you with tutorials, videos and other resources. Don't be afraid of bullies and gatekeepers and let them prevent you from becoming a gal.

If I remained scared as I was when I was a beginner, I wouldn't be at the level I am today. I wouldn't even post anything online. But you know what? I knew that Gyaru is a big passion for me. And my passion means more than getting validation from people I will never meet. My passion makes me happy with my everyday life and my own self.

If we are to grow as a community, then we need to work out issues and stick together more now than ever.

Work hard, try everything and keep going.
Don't let anyone else stop you.

And for the bullies and gatekeepers out there:
Do better.

I know I will probably receive some hate for this but I'm at the point where I've had enough and I will no longer keep quiet. Gal already almost died once. I met so many amazing people because of Gyaru and I finally love myself. We need to talk about it. We need to do better.

Thank you.

✩21 I Made a Phone Case!✩

Hey Buns!
I'm super excited to share this with you today!

As a lot of you may know, I'm a fan of Pokemon. I have a lot of favorites and right now my current boom is Shiny Alolan Raichu. I have always loved the electric mice/small animal types but for some reason Alolan Raichu really captured my heart. Especially the shiny version.

Anyway, I have been trying to collect different things for it but I couldn't find a phone case that I loved. So I took it upon myself to put my graphic skills to the test again and design my own. Luckily, I have a bunch of screenshots from my own in-game baby, Choco Chip. Yes, that is her name.

Here are some works in progress.

I have to thank Darling for the suggestion of adding the white tummy detail. It completed the design for sure!

I was hoping to find some place to print it without having to order a bunch of them or put it up for sale. Just a one-of-a-kind case for myself. I finally found this site called CaseApp. It was pretty easy to use.

All you have to do is choose which type of device you're designing for and then choose the specific version. I was making it for my phone so I chose the iPhone!

They take most file formats. I made sure to have mine at 300dpi, just in case.

Then all you have to do is fit it on your case and purchase!

There was a note on the site that it could take up to 2 weeks but mine arrived pretty quickly! It was just a few days before it officially shipped. It was complete and at my door in less time!

I have to admit I was a little nervous. I never used the service before so I had no idea how good the quality was going to be. It arrived in a bubble mailer with the case itself in a microfiber bag designed with one of CaseApp's patterns. There was even a thank you card with the same pattern!

And finally, here is the case!

Isn't it adorable? I opted for the "tough" case because I want to make sure there is more protection than a regular hard case can give. The design is actually printed on the case and has a scratch resistant coating.

Overall, I think the print is actually great. It's clean, very clear and just as vibrant as my original. Using this site was actually the easiest for me and ended up being cheaper because shipping was free. A lot of other websites were annoying to place my design on and I couldn't tell if the image was going to print like the preview or be totally off. On the CaseApp site, the company states they use 4 color printing so prints will look as they should. Which I can confirm!

They make pretty amazing one-of-a-kind gifts! Let me know if you ever got a custom print before!

✩20 Halloween Already Started✩

Hey buns!

Yes, I said it. Halloween has already started for me.It is my favorite holiday after Easter (for obvious reasons). It's also already in the stores as decor, costumes and crafts.

Please excuse the terrible photo and makeup!

I don't know if I'll be working yet on the day of so I'm not sure if I will dress up. I may just use my birb kigu that I got a few years ago cause they double as pajamas!

The year I got it was also my very first attempt at Kigurumin. And looking back on it, I know it was not my best. I tried to imitate the gals in old EGG issues but it was kind of a fail.

Last year, I saw some really cute and easy makeup for a leopard. And since I have a ton of animal prints from D.I.A., it was a quick and easy costume for me. I picked up some cute kitty ears from Daiso, too! The makeup was a little more refined so it felt like a better attempt was accomplished. It was a lot of fun painting my face with face glitter makeup.

This year, though, with the way things are going, I may just ask for off that day and stay home in my birb kigu. As a kid, I loved watching all the cheesy and cute movies and cartoons, mostly from Disney.

I hope they plan to add a lot of this stuff to Disney+. It's okay watching the Freeform "31 Nights of Halloween" but they repeat A LOT of the same movies and shows throughout the whole thing. And it looks like this year, they finally listened to past complaints about the overdose of Hocus Pocus. I don't think I saw their usual marathon of it for this year's actual holiday! I love the movie but I saw it forever ago when it was new and I'm not the type of person to watch something 1,000 times.

Anyway, I'm just going to end it here before I make an even longer rant XD
